Peptamen® AF

Peptamen® AF is a 1.5 kcal/ml peptide-based enteral tube feed formulated with partially hydrolysed, 100% whey protein, omega-3 fats and 52% of the fat as MCT. It is a nutritionally complete Food for Special Medical Purposes for use under medical supervision for the dietary management of malnourished patients or those at risk of malnutrition, for patients with malabsorption and/or maldigestion.

Who is Peptamen® AF suitable for?

Peptamen AF is recommended for critically ill adults, particularly those with conditions associated with high metabolic stress, inflammation, and impaired gastrointestical tolerance such as:

  • Sepsis
  • Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS)
  • Trauma
  • Burns

Water, maltodextrin, peptides from partially hydrolysed whey protein (milk), MCT oil, soybean oil, fish oil, minerals (sodium citrate, potassium citrate, calcium citrate, sodium phosphate, magnesium chloride, sodium chloride, magnesium oxide, potassium chloride, potassium hydroxide, ferrous sulphate, zinc sulphate, manganese sulphate, copper sulphate, sodium fluoride, potassium iodide, chromium chloride, sodium selenate, sodium molybdate), emulsifiers (soy lecithin, E471), vitamins ( C, E, niacin, pantothenic acid, thiamin, B6, A, riboflavin, folic acid,K, biotin, D, B12), antioxidants (E307, E304).

Ordering Information

Important to shake well before use. Unopened, store in a cool, dry place. Once spiked use within 24 hours. Unused portion can be recapped, refrigerated and consumed within 24 hours of opening. If poured out of the pack keep tightly covered and consume within 4 hours if at room temperature.

Indications
ACBS approved, prescribable on FP10 (GP10 in Scotland). Indicated for patients as a sole or supplemented source of nutrition on medical grounds for short bowel syndrome, intractable malabsorption, pre-operative preparation of patients who are undernourished, patients with proven IBD, following total gastrectomy, bowel fistulae and disease related malnutrition.

Contraindications
Not suitable for patients with cows’ milk protein allergy.

Precautions
Must be used under medical supervision. For enteral use only. Suitable for children above 3 years of age. Do not add food or drugs to the feed.
