What are HMOs?

Gain insights into the role of HMOs in the nutritional management of infants, including those with cow’s milk protein allergy (CMPA). Watch this webinar delivered by Dr. Ralf Heine, Clinical Researcher in Paediatric Allergy and Nutrition, to develop your knowledge.

Human Milk Oligosaccharides (HMOs) are third largest solid component of breastmilk that help support the development of an infant's immune system. After decades of research, Nestlé Health Science has become the first to incorporate two structurally identical HMOs, 2'FL and LNnT, into a hypoallergenic formula. This video highlights findings from the IVORY Study, the first study of its kind to assess HMOs in infants and young children with Cow's Milk Protein Allergy (CMPA). Discover how the formula demonstrated safety, tolerance, and compliance with gold-standard clinical hypo allergenicity requirements, offering clinicians a new option for nutritional management of CMPA.

Breastmilk remains the nutritional gold standard for all infants, including those with Cow's Milk Protein Allergy (CMPA). Building on decades of pioneering research, Nestlé Health Science continues to innovate by bringing structurally identical Human Milk Oligosaccharides (HMOs) to hypoallergenic formula. This video explores findings from the CINNAMON Study, a randomized, controlled, double-blind clinical trial evaluating a hypoallergenic formula enhanced with two HMOs. The study demonstrated effective relief of CMPA symptoms, fewer respiratory infections, and a gut microbiota profile closer to that of breastfed infants.

Discover more about the importance of Human Milk Oligosaccharides (HMOs) in infant nutrition, particularly for infants with cow’s milk protein allergy (CMPA). Watch this webinar, delivered by Dr Sophie Nutten, to enhance your knowledge.

This video provides a brief overview of how human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs) support immune protection — showing how they block pathogen adhesion, promote beneficial microbiota, and help modulate epithelial and immune cell responses to strengthen earlylife immunity.

This video looks at the HMO journey—decades of scientific research that have deepened our understanding of what human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs) are and how they contribute to the development of infant immunity. It highlights how this evidence base has enabled Nestlé to incorporate key HMOs into specialist infant formulas, supporting continued innovation.

This video focuses on two of the most abundant and wellresearched human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs) - 2′FL and LNnT. It outlines their roles in supporting immune function, strengthening the gut barrier, and modulating microbiota, and how these mechanisms support with the dietary management of cow’s milk protein allergy (CMPA).
